The secrets of a successful life in business.

Winning with Business Yoga

Yoga mat

A major trend in business these days is the incorporation of healthy lifestyle practices into the workplace. Some companies have done this by creating health benefits for joining a gym, accessibility to healthy snacks, and in one case, issued raises on a bell curve based on their BMI.

While that company is still in litigation, the simple fact is that business must heed this today in order to retain top talent, and maintain a healthy, happy, and productive, workforce. You have no choice but to do this today, or fail.

Fortunately for you, I have recently done this very thing.

I started a Winning Yoga™ class at the office each Tuesday afternoon with woman I hoped to impress by doing so. My only stipulation was that the class be held in the middle of the lunch alcove during lunch for visibility.

When you embrace things like yoga outwardly, this shows your colleagues that you could be into alternative medicine, and more importantly that you are likely have an open mind. But, if you’re going to do it, you must make sure people see you doing it, or you get no credit.

The other challenge here is to keep your raw animal rigidity in tact, while appearing to embrace a new way of thinking.

Here’s a simple strategy for doing just that. Once you get in the class, do the warmups as the rest of the class does. But do them shirtless (this applies to men, or women)

Then, when it gets to the poses part–no matter what the guru instructs you to do–hold The Warrior Pose for the entire 45 minutes, even during the cooldown.

That should do the trick.

this is brilliant advice. and may i humbly ask…will a leopard or zebra unitard pass too?

looks pretty animal-ie to me. but i need some guidance.

Without a doubt, animal print leotards are actually preferred.

Though I would not suggest wearing it to work outright that day. It will be best to wear it under your work attire, then rip it off Hulk Hogan-style after you set up your mat and are ready to go.

I tried said technique in the courtyard of my office complex, but I didn’t want to make the investment in an outfit until I knew I liked it.

I think that was my first mistake. People capped on me all day for buying a used pill-balled leotard.

Do you have any advice on how to save face? I don’t want this important program to fail.

PS: the person @ the garage sale assured me that the leotard had been washed so it wasn’t like it was dirty or anything.

Anywho. You know how people can be.

    Great comments Charles:

Glad to hear you’ve made the commitment to this strategy! I know this will work with one minor adjustment, ditch the leopard print leotard, and replace it with a jumper made from the skin of a lion, or a bear.

This will firmly plant in the minds of your coworkers you’re still a king of business, even though you’re doing something that is kinda gay.
